The Lake Cities’ south end

Hickory Creek sits at the south tip of the Lake Cities, tucked between the lake to the east and I-35E to the west. The town is mostly residential, mostly Lake Dallas ISD, mostly people who’ve lived here a while and like that it stays quiet. The trade-off, as anyone who lives here knows: there isn’t much to do in Hickory Creek itself, especially in the evenings.

That’s the gap Texas Golf Social fills. We’re a short drive straight north — no highway needed, no Lewisville traffic, no crossing the bridge. Just Main Street.

Why the drive is so easy

Most places worth going from Hickory Creek involve I-35E. Lewisville means I-35E south. Denton means I-35E north. Highland Village means crossing the bridge and dealing with FM 2499.

We don’t. From most of Hickory Creek, you can take Main Street north — it turns into N Corinth St as it crosses into Corinth — and you’re at our door without ever touching the highway. That’s a real quality-of-life difference on a Friday night at 7pm.

Why Hickory Creek residents come up here

  • Closest indoor anything. For a Hickory Creek resident, we are statistically the nearest full bar with a real kitchen and something to do besides eat. Period.
  • No-highway evening outing. You don’t have to wrestle I-35E or fight Lewisville traffic to get here. A casual after-dinner trip stays casual.
  • Lake-community familiar faces. A lot of our regulars come from the Lake Cities trio — Lake Dallas, Corinth, Hickory Creek. If you know your neighbors here, you’ll probably know someone at the bar most nights.
  • Junior golfers from Lake Dallas HS. We’ve had Lake Dallas ISD families bring kids in for indoor practice during the cold months. The Apogee data gives a real picture of what’s happening in the swing — better than hitting balls at the range.

Two routes from Hickory Creek

Main Street (best for most): Main St north → N Corinth St → arrive. About 8 minutes, three lights, no highway. The default.

FM 2181 (faster from the lake side): From the east side of Hickory Creek, FM 2181 (Swisher Rd) north to N Corinth St cuts a minute or two. Same end result.

I-35E (only if you’re already on it): Exit 461 (Corinth Parkway), right on N Corinth St. Not faster, but works if you’re coming back from Lewisville.

What’s typical for this neighborhood

A bay rental for two couples on date night. A foursome of dads coming in after kids’ bedtime. A Lake Dallas ISD junior player getting reps in January. Birthday parties with neighborhood friends. Walk-ins for a quick drink and to watch whatever game is on. We see all of it from the south end of the lake.
